Q1. Please tell us about your job.

I am in charge of profit and loss analysis in the management analysis team. The P&L analysis aims to drive the direction and value of the company by analyzing the company's losses and profits. To this end, we establish management goals, establish evaluation criteria, and analyze and summarize the organization's performance over a period of time to support management's decision-making. Also, our team organizes various meetings where management decisions are made, and selects relevant agenda items and prepares materials.

Q2. What competencies do you need most in your job?

Due to the nature of P&L analysis, which involves managing the company's financial information, accounting knowledge and financial management knowledge to understand financial statements and fund management are very helpful. In particular, since we are a construction company, it is necessary to study revenue recognition, unbilled work, etc. that are important in construction industry accounting. Furthermore, it is necessary to have analytical skills to interpret financial information and derive direction, and administrative skills to utilize large amounts of financial data. In order to analyze the vast amount of data generated by hundreds of construction sites on a daily basis, it is essential to have a background in business administration, as well as the ability to categorize data and derive valuable statistics.

Q3. How did you prepare for joining the company?

You must be able to demonstrate that you are not only specialized in your work, but also aligned with the type of talent Hyundai E&C seeks. It will be very helpful if you can show your experience of overcoming challenges without giving up even in difficult situations, as well as your broad thinking skills gained from activities outside of school. It is also crucial to analyze business reports to understand Hyundai E&C's business, and to understand the industry environment through articles and materials related to the construction business.

Q4. Is there a corporate culture or system at HDEC that you would like to share?

Hyundai E&C has a corporate culture of “working in perfect unison”, which means that even though there are many organizations and employees, once a goal is set, they work together as if they are one single body to successfully achieve it. The sense of accomplishment when you achieve a goal through such a difficult process is priceless. The P&L team works together for two to three months to create the business plan for the following year. Although each of us has different responsibilities, it is very rewarding to work hard together toward a single goal and create the final business plan.

Q5. Do you have any advice for juniors who want to work at HDEC?

Hyundai E&C is a “great teacher and a good friend." Hyundai E&C is a “great teacher” because I have been able to learn and grow a lot while working at Hyundai E&C, and a “good friend” because I can spend time with many seniors and juniors. I joined Hyundai E&C without knowing anything about the company's business because I had just graduated from college, but I was up to fulfilling my tasks by learning various things. I would like to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hyundai E&C, which continues to thrive as Korea’s top leading builder, together with my juniors.
