Q1. Please tell us about your job.
I am in charge of strategically supporting research activities, planning and managing the implementation process so that research projects can be carried out more efficiently. The R&D Center conducts various research projects every year to demonstrate and develop technologies and secure the company's technological competitiveness. It manages these research projects to ensure that they are aligned with the company's strategy and that they are carried out in accordance with company regulations.

Q2. What competencies do you need most in your job?
The competencies required for researchers are “interest in technology'” and “planning ability”. In particular, smart technologies are advancing day by day, so interest and understanding of technology is fundamental in order not to fall behind. It is also critical to have the planning ability to adapt the evolving technology to the construction site. No matter how good the technology is, it is only effective if it can be used efficiently on the construction site.

Q3. How did you prepare for joining the company?
My experience with research projects in graduate school and developing logical solutions to problems was incredibly beneficial. I believe that much of the process, both in preparing for a job and in corporate life, revolves around convincing others with sound reasoning. This is something I naturally honed through the problem-solving exercises in graduate school. During my job interview, I was required to give a 10-minute presentation on my master's research. Recognizing its importance, I prepared thoroughly and practiced extensively, which allowed me to successfully deliver the presentation and answer questions confidently.

Q4. Is there a corporate culture or system at HDEC that you would like to share?
“Working for a globally recognized company” is my greatest pride. At Hyundai E&C, there is constant communication and collaboration with global firms across most teams. I vividly recall the positive responses I received from various global companies when I first started sending emails at the beginning of my employment. As such, competing with global companies in good faith is highly stimulating, and the culture of self-development and continuous growth is truly inspiring.

Q5. Do you have any advice for juniors who want to work at HDEC?
When I was in college, I focused very much on my off-campus activities and major studies thinking that there should never be a case where I wouldn’t be able to join the company I want to work for just because my GPA or qualifications are not good enough. Thanks to this, I gained a wealth of experience and graduated with the highest honor. And such long-held conviction paid off when I wanted to join Hyundai E&C. I would also like to say that it is important for juniors who want to join Hyundai E&C to give their best in the present moment.
