The Dream Mentoring Volunteers


‘The Dream Mentoring Volunteers’, one of Hyundai E&C’s most prominent CSR activities, is a mentoring program joined by Hyundai E&C employees, college students and teenagers. On October 24 last year, the 7th Dream Mentoring Volunteers held an online launching ceremony. The 7th volunteers had fun time, laughing and growing together through various activities until August this year, including learning and career mentoring, online talk, and joint gatherings. The unique advantage of this volunteer group is that the Hyundai E&C employees themselves take part as mentors. The employee mentors’ job experience and career mentoring are a valuable asset for college students and youth mentees. The Dream Mentoring Volunteers helped participants grow their dreams by spending 2,400 hours with them, including 800 hours of career guidance mentoring and 1,600 hours of learning mentoring.

This year, Hyundai E&C has worked hard to provide support to vulnerable communities and public high schools in Apalit, Pampanga, and Calumpit, Bulacan, the sites for building train stations for the Section 1 of the North-South Railway project. On October 27, the local employees at the Philippines’ North-South Railroad Section 1 site delievered 1,430 and 2,500 sets of anti-Covid hygiene/health kits to the Apalit area, respectively. On November 5, they visited the Calumpit area and distributed 1300 and 2,500 sets of hygiene/health kits as gifts, respectively. In December and January next year, they plan to visit 15 high schools in the Apalit & Calumpit areas to provide PCs and school supplies and materals. We look forward to the day when the global village overcomes the pandemic and actively exchange with one another. Until then, Hyundai E&C’s global CSR activities will never stop.

Hyundai E&C began its first DIY (Do It Yourself) volunteer program this year. Mask straps and soaps hand-made by Hyundai E&C employees and 20,000 sheets of KF94 masks were distributed to 600 underprivileged people in Jongno-gu through the Jongno Social Welfare Center.
The campaigns for charity goods and blood donation were also successfully held. More than 2,000 second-hand items, including apparels and fashion accessories and items will be resold, whose proceeds will be returned to the society. In addition, various activities were carried out, including the ▶ blood donation campaign ▶ distribution of disaster safety helmets/training ▶ sponsorship of Covid-19 kits.
Meanwhile, about 1,600 people participated in the Love Sharing Fund, a voluntary donation culture of Hyundai E&C employees, raising about 230 million won. The proceeds will be donated to Community Chest of Korea at the end of this year to be used transparently for domestic and international CSR activities and various outreach programs for the marginalized communities.
