[ Hyundai E&C – Amorepacific MoU Signing Ceremony ]

Hyundai E&C will join hands with Amorepacific to showcase aesthetic building materials using recycled cosmetic containers, applicable to landscaping facilities in apartment complexes. On April 14, officials from both companies, including Lee In-ki, director of Hyundai E&C Architectural Housing Design Office, and Oh Jung-hwa, director of Amorepacific Sustainable Management Division, signed an MoU at Hyundai E&C headquarters in Gye-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Hyundai E&C and Amorepacific will actively cooperate in developing construction materials and designs using recycled materials from cosmetics containers.

In the post-Covid era, large amounts of plastic wastes generated by the rapidly increasing use of disposable products have become a major social problem. Amid various attempts to reduce and recycle plastic wastes, Amorepacific, for the first time in the industry, is operating a series of beauty upcycling programs that collect and recycle plastic containers generated after using cosmetics.

In the MoU, the two companies agreed to manufacture construction terrazzo tiles that mix pulverized plastic container materials with ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) and apply them to apartment sites. Upcycled terrazzo tiles with superior strength and durability will be actively used in landscaping facilities as they can produce various colors and designs. The sites to be applied include Hillstate Suji-gu Office Station, Hillstate Prugio Suwon, and Hillstate Pohang.

Hyundai E&C has been fully committed to sustainable ESG management, as it was incorporated in the Dow Jones Sustainability™ World Index for 12 consecutive years, selected nine times as the world's No. 1 in the construction sector as Industry Leader, and joined the “Hall of Fame” for four consecutive years in the environment management evaluation by Carbon Disclosure Project hosted by the CDP Korean Committee.  In addition, Hyundai E&C’s THE H and Hillstate's landscaping products are recognized for their excellence in design worldwide, winning the world's top three design awards and the IFLA Landscape Architecture Awards.
