Hyundai E&C wins an order to build a gateway to Machu Picchu

Hyundai E&C’s has received construction orders in succession in Peru amid the pandemic crisis.
Hyundai E&C has won the order to build the Chinchero New International Airport Passenger Terminal valued at 493 billion won from the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Peru. This is a follow-up project of the order for the Chinchero New Airport site preparation project clinched by our company earlier this year. Hyundai E&C’s formed a joint venture with global companies such as Sinohydro, ICA and HV Contratistas to successfully land the order for the construction of the Chinchero New International Airport Passenger Terminal.
This project was intended to build an international airport which can serve 5.7 million travelers on an annual basis. The new airport will be located in Chinchero, 15 kilometers northwest of Cusco, a gateway to Machu Picchu which is a globally famous historic site for Inca civilization. The new international airport will have cutting-edge, eco-friendly aviation facilities such as terminal buildings, control towers, runways and aprons. The construction period is 47 months. Our company adopts fast-track construction as a project delivery strategy in which the design and construction are conducted simultaneously. In addition, Hyundai E&C’s plans to digitalize the entire construction process ranging from design and construction to maintenance by introducing the state-of-the-art building information modelling (BIM) technology.

Hyundai E&C’s is accelerating its effort for global ESG management by publishing the Hyundai E&C Sustainability Report 2021 showcasing four divisions and 12 propelling strategies to promote sustainable management.
This report is the first in the domestic construction industry to apply the World Economic Forum’s 4P metrics of Prosperity, Planet, People and Principle, presenting detailed implementation strategies as well as non-financial performance with regard to each area, such as strengthening global competitiveness, responding to climate change, enhancing safety and health implementation and enhancing value chain capability.


Hyundai E&C’s wins WSH Awards

Hyundai E&C’s has received four awards at the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Awards 2021 hosted by Singapore’s WSH Council under the Ministry of Manpower.
The WSH Awards is given to organizations and individuals that contributed to generating excellent performance in the field of industry, safety and health. This year, Hyundai E&C’s won the WSH Performance (Silver) Awards. On top of this, the Tuas Finger One reclamation project, the Tekong Island reclamation project and the Punggol Sports Center project conducted by Hyundai E&C in the city-state received WSH SHARP Awards.


Groundbreaking ceremony for Innovative Nuclear Research Complex

The Innovative Nuclear Research Complex project has been kicked off by holding a groundbreaking ceremony on July 21. Hyundai E&C’s is in charge of the construction of the research complex.
This project, which will play a central role in next-generation nuclear power research, aims to build cutting-edge research buildings, radioactive waste processing facilities and high-precision analysis facilities. Once the construction is completed, the research complex is expected to become a mecca for nuclear power research and development with regard to small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) and decommissioning technologies of decrepit nuclear power plants by joining hands with the nuclear power cluster in Gyeongsangbuk-do province.
