Hillstate Hongeun Forest's “The Rabbit Playground” for IDEA Design Award Finalist Selection ]

Hyundai E&C became the finalist for the IDEA(International Design Excellence Awards) 2023 with the Rabbit Playground of Hillstate Hongeun Forest.

IDEA is an international design award organized by the U.S.-based IDSA that began in 1980 and is one of the world's top three design awards, along with the German iF Design Awards and the prestigious Red Dot Awards. Each year, the finest design products are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of the entries’ design innovation, user benefits, and social responsibility.

The Rabbit Playground by Hillstate Hongeun Forest is the world's first 3D printed children's playground. The vibrant and striking colors of the atypical structure make up the sculpture, designed in a way to promote users' activities. In particular, it was recognized for boldly showcasing the differentiated technology of a leading construction firm by directly implementing cutting-edge industry 4.0 technology in a residential complex.

With this award, Hyundai E&C became the only Korean builder to be recognized by the world's top three design awards for three successive years in the exterior product category.

Meanwhile, in July 2020, Hyundai E&C filed a patent* for an atypical bench production technology employing 3D printing technology, and its 3D printed bench won the 2021 Architizer A+ Product Award, serving as a testament to the company’s excellent technological competitiveness in the field of 3D printing.

*Patent: Method for manufacturing atypical landscape structures using 3D printing technology and atypical benches produced thereof (Patent No. 10-2020-0090790)

Not only has Hyundai E&C achieved a career grand slam of the world's three most eminent design awards, but its design prowess has also garnered praise through multiple wins in global design contests: Asia Design Prize, hailed as Asia's preeminent design accolade, and the coveted Green Good Design Award in the United States, also known as the pinnacle of green design competitions worldwide.

“In receiving this award, Hyundai E&C has reaffirmed its global acclaim for unmatched 3D printing technology and exceptional design prowess,” said a Hyundai E&C representative. “Our commitment remains steadfast in showcasing products of exceptional design and practicality, integrating latest technologies to elevate the value of residential spaces.”
