Hyundai E&C has a track record of being the first construction company in Korea to construct with both the pressurized light water reactor and pressurized heavy water reactor methods by participating as the EPC for 24 out of 36 large Korean-type nuclear power plants in Korea and abroad. It achieved 100% technology independence in constructing the nuclear power plant and it is participating as the lead construction company in 6 plants (UAE, Shin-Gori) out of 8 nuclear power plants (4 in UAE, 2 in Shin-Hanul, 2 in Shin-Gori) that are being constructed in Korea and abroad. Hyundai E&C that is sparing no investment and research on decommissioning of nuclear power plants, the blue ocean of future nuclear power plant industry, is gearing up to secure the technological capability for the entire cycle of nuclear power plant from construction to decommissioning. Furthermore, it entered into an agreement with a US nuclear power company, Holtec International, on SMR (Small Modular Reactor) development, nuclear power plant decommissioning business, and the construction of temporary storage facility for spent nuclear fuel to take the lead in developing new future technology through activities such as securing the right to participate in the business of the North American market and globally exclusive rights to the SMR business.
