Ulsan Bridge is considered Hyundai E&C's greatest masterpiece, marking the pinnacle of suspension bridge construction technology that began with the Namhae Bridge. This massive project involved constructing an 8,380m long bridge with two to four lanes, featuring a single-span suspension bridge with a main span distance of 1,150 meters between the towers. Ulsan Bridge is the world’s first bridge to apply ultra-high-strength 1960 MPa cables, and also the first in Korea to adopt the Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strand (PPWS) construction method. Moreover, the bridge includes Korea’s first tunnel-type anchorage. The anchorage, a concrete structure located behind the main towers, is connected to the ends of the suspension cables. The anchorage at the terminal section of the bridge was installed in the steeply sloped area of Yeomposan, with careful consideration of the terrain to minimize impact on the natural environment.
