The Lusail Expressway project in Qatar involved expanding and constructing a 5.8km highway from central Doha, near the airport, to the Pearl area, a commercial and residential district in northern Lusail, along with 5.7km of arterial roads. Hyundai E&C built not only the road, with up to 18 lanes, but also an array of infrastructures including 10 tunnels, 4 bridges, micro-tunnels, water and sewage systems, communication lines, and substations. At Wahda IC, the southern starting point of the Lusail Expressway, a 100m tall arch structure was installed, becoming a landmark for those traveling from Doha Airport to Lusail's World Cup Stadium. The project earned the “Global Best Project Award” from the U.S. engineering magazine <ENR> in October 2018, recognizing its excellence in site management and technical prowess.
