The Ras Laffan C Combined Cycle Power Plant is situated in Ras Laffan Industrial City, 70km north of the capital Doha. This large-scale industrial project is a combined cycle power and desalination plant that uses natural gas to generate electricity and seawater to produce drinking water. The plant can generate 2,730MW of electricity and produce 63 MIGD (286.4 million liters per day) of water. Its electricity output is double that of Shin Kori Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (1,400MW), and the water production is sufficient to serve half of Qatar’s population. Despite the challenging environment, with temperatures reaching up to 50°C, Hyundai E&C successfully delivered the project, showcasing its exceptional technical capabilities.
