▲ Successful groundbreaking of Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center, a 535.4 billion won project
▲ Aims to provide a carrier-neutral environment and connectivity services to achieve “net-neutral integrity”
▲ Plans to offer differentiated services leveraging diverse track record of data center construction
Hyundai E&C will build the largest carrier-neutral hyperscale data center in Korea in Jukjeon-dong, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, ordered by Pacific Asset Management, a real estate asset management firm.
The Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center will be built based on an investment 828 billion won from CPP Investments, a global pension funds at Pacific Asset Management and Shinhan Financial Investment and is expected to drive abundant traffic due to its close location to Pangyo New Town called Korean Silicon Valley, which hosts many large IT companies.
The Jukjeon Data Center, with four underground floors to four ground floors, has a total floor area of 99,070m2 and will provide tenant companies with a carrier-neutral environment and connection services that are not bound by telecommunication operators, with the goal of achieving “net-neutral integrity.”
By applying a design with adjusted inter-column spacing to respond immediately to rapid expansion of IT equipment, about 1,000 racks will be deployed for each data hall, and a high-performance computing environment of more than 10 kW per rack will be provided to meet the needs of cloud, Internet, and telecom operators.
The data center began its construction in March 2022 and is scheduled for completion sometime in 2024. LG CNS, which has more than 30 years of experience in deploying and operating data centers will be in charge of deployment and operation of the infrastructure.
A Hyundai E&C official said, “In construction the Yongin Jukjeon Pacific Sunny Data Center, we will build on our track record of having built different types of data centers with high level of safety and security including Sejong Gak Data Center, Government Integrated Data Center (IDC), NH IDC, Busan Global Data Center,” adding that, “We at Hyundai E&C will leverage our technical know-how and expertise to position ourselves as a leader in the data center construction market.”
